So, 3 years after Nestle discontinued my favourite Maggi Hot Cup flavour, they released a similar flavour in 2025: the Maggi Hot Cup Goreng Asli!
| Is this the return of my comfort cup noodle? |
The moment I saw it in the supermarket shelves, I immediately bought a couple to try it out!
| Preparation instructions |
| Its contents. (Also, I got a cute yellow Maggi mee mug!) |
Its preparation is the same as other dry Maggi Hot Cup noodles in the past, where you drain the water after cooking the noodles, and add the seasonings before serving.
| Cook the noodles and drain the water. |
| Add the seasoning powder. |
| Add the seasoning oil and sweet soy sauce. |
| And mix it aaaall together! |
And like previous dry Maggi cup noodles, I like to add a soft-boiled egg and a few dashes of paprika/cayenne pepper at the end for more substance.
| Yummy~ |
So how does the Goreng Asli compare to the (now discontinued) Goreng Cili Fiesta?
The taste of the Goreng Asli is similar but a little different, like a less sweet version of the Goreng Cili Fiesta. It's not too spicy, but it's also a little more sour compared to the Goreng Cili Fiesta. This is a different noodle, but still tasty nonetheless.
Although I miss the flavour of the Goreng Cili Fiesta, the Goreng Asli is good enough to fill that void/craving. It's found a place as one of my comfort instant noodles alongside the Maggi Hot Cup Kari with Milo powder.
| The runny egg yolk with the noodles is always so goooood! |
I hope that this flavour stays for a while. I don't want to have to lose another flavour I like. ;v;
