2x Spicy Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen

I was looking back through my older posts and found that I had tasted both the ramen cup and ramen bowl versions of the 2x Spicy Samyang buldak ramen. I had recently been given a few packets of the 2x spicy buldak, so I figured I should review it and see how I like it 8 years after I last tried that flavour!

The back with the nutritional stuff and cooking directions

The accompanying toppings!
This was my dinner, so I made sure it was hearty with an avocado, cheese, sausage, and some salad greens & cherry tomatoes! (I even had an egg cooking to a half boil off to the side!)

Cook the noodles, drain the water (leaving 8 spoonfuls of water in the pot), add the buldak sauce, fry for an additional 30 secs, then put the noodles into a bowl to serve! (I just poured the noodles over the additional toppings in the bowl, lol.) Then sprinkle the packet flakes over the noodles. And finally, I added the egg over the noodles, completing the dish!

Nooo, I overcooked the egg!!

Looks great after mixing it together!
This was indeed a very filling meal! Because of my previous experience with the 2x Spicy Buldak (which was too hot for me to bear), my strategy this time was to overwhelm the spiciness with a whole lot of toppings! (Random bullshit, go!)

So, how was my experience handling the 2x spiciness this time?

Surprisingly, it went better than expected! I wasn't dying from the spiciness this time, but I was still sweating and having a runny nose partway through the noodles, and I still had to take a break from eating towards the end of the meal. I heard mayo helps with the spiciness, so I put Kewpie mayo on the remaining buldak noodles and it definitely helped with the spiciness, and it was really tasty with the buldak sauce!
(Dang, I should've added mayo in the beginning!)

I think my spice tolerance has improved over the years, so compared to 8 years ago, I wasn't suffering too much eating these 2x spicy noodles. I still had a couple of packets left, so I cooked the 2x spicy buldak noodles a second time (at a later date) with a different twist to it!

This time I cut my sausages so that it's easier to eat, lol.

For this second attempt, I used similar toppings (minus the avocado), but there was leftover cream and cheese from when my brother made carbonara pasta, so I decided to add cream when frying the noodles with the buldak sauce. I then sprinkled some grated cheese over the noodles after putting it into the bowl!

The cream has made the sauce a little lighter in colour!
The cream definitely helped with toning down the spiciness, so I was able to eat the noodles without breaks (apart from blowing my nose and wiping my sweat). It was also tasty eating it together with the various toppings. (It could use more cheese, I bet it would taste better with more cheeeeese.)

I'm glad that I'm able to now appreciate the taste of the noodles without suffering from the burning spice. (The burning sensations in the toilet the day after is another story though...) I still prefer the regular level of spice for the Samyamg Buldak noodles, so the 2x spicy buldak noodles is not something I would buy unless someone gifts it to me.

Anyway, I still have one packet left of the 2x spicy Samyang buldak noodles. I'll probably eat it with mayo and whatever else is available in the fridge. Third time's the charm, so hopefully I can get the balance right for an enjoyable spicy meal!
