Back with some Bankai, Nyoro~n and Geass!! XD

AAAAND THIS BLOG LIVES AGAIN!!! Thanks to some people who suddenly started making blogs. And this is also a good opportunity to talk about the awesomeness that is Code Geass and some other anime that would fit under the category of "Why didn't I watch this earlier?!!".

I shall begin with a small insight to my anime viewing preferences. I tend to avoid watching anime/reading manga that are very popular and overhyped, unless I watch/read it when it's newly aired/published, or when months/years have passed and the hype has gone down. Bleach, Naruto and Code Geass are examples of that second condition. It's this weird instinct of mine to try and not be influenced or "fooled" by the masses. Anyway, onto the anime talk/review.

Bleach

I must confess that people pestering me to watch something only made it harder for me to do so. I did want to watch Bleach to see what the heck it was all about but in the end I was discouraged/too lazy to do so. When Bleach was going to be shown on Animax I had the excuse to watch it because I don't have to take the trouble of waiting for each episode to finish downloading before I watch it. Soon after watching the first episode on Animax, I decided to read the manga just to see slightly ahead.
That resulted in 3-4 hour Bleach manga reading marathon sessions almost every day, which hurt my eyes a lot. I have come to like characters like Abarai Renji, Hitsugaya Toushiro, Hisagi Shuuhei and Ulquiorra, but for some reason I never really liked/hated Ichigo. He's just like any typical shounen main character who keeps getting ridiculously stronger and stronger.

Curiously when I was marathoning through the manga, I found myself studying the anatomy of the characters, which is a good thing, if only I remembered them -~-". Anyway, I've caught up to the manga after 2-3 weeks so now I have to wait one week for the new chapters to come out. And when would the Arrancar arc ever end??? Aizen is seriously unnecessarily too powerful!

Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuutsu and Nyoro~n Churuya-san

I did watch the first episodes of both when they first aired but it didn't really catch my attention because I thought it would be just some fanservice thing to please the Suzumiya Haruhi fans who wanted more. Then I caught some parts of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan that the anime club members were watching and I actually found them cute and funny. But it took me months after I finished watching season 2 of SHnY to try and watch them. And it was cute XD! Churuya's adventures with smoked cheese was really cute X3. Seeing chibi Asakura/Achakura yelling "Kimidori-saaaan!!!!" was really cute X3. Seeing the gay instances between Kyon and Koizumi Itsuki was very amusing (Wall of the Heart FTW) as well as Haruhi's reaction to it. Overall I was pleased with it. And I was happy I now know of the origin of the nyoro~n )83.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

One advantage of watching things later is that I do not have to suffer the agony of waiting for the next episode/season to air. Took me 4 days of marathon sessions to watch both seasons last week. And it was awesome.

Code Geass is the mixture of Death Note and Gundam 00, along with a touch of Tsubasa, Gundam SEED, Vampire Knight and V for Vendetta. But what made it so awesome was the awesome, fantabulous and magnificent bastard called LELOUCH!!!! He's the Yagami Raito/Light of Area 11 (but is so much more awesome because he was magnificent until the end, unlike poor Raito ;_;) and he's the Sumeragi Lee Noriega of Celestial Being, also known as The Black Knights. It's rare that the main character remains my favourite character across two seasons. I was also surprised that I did not actually hate Kallen when I thought I actually would. I might be biased but I find the magnificent bastard Lelouch so... magnificent. Even if he gasped like a girl, even when his face was shoved to the ground several times, even as he tumbled down after being stabbed in the chest, he's still magnificent. Strangely I did not feel sad that he died, or maybe it was because of the many rumours that he still lives. If I had to continue to write about him I could have an entire post about him, but for now I shall restrain. Oh and C.C's a brat. And Nina's all messed up. And so is Marianne. =_=" Suzaku... no comment.

Overall, the series was good. People said the second season was meh but I found it alright. It's just one point below the first season (if I have to give a 10-star rating). Maybe I'm too nice. And as for Gundam 00... I would say that the second season was 2.3 points lower than the first! =m=

So that's the start of a new year of anime and manga for me. I shall now go back to my closet and sleep.
