2x Spicy Samyang Hot Chicken Flavour Ramen Cup (with added sugar)

I just recently found that Samyang has more flavours for their ramen cups, so I bought the cheese flavour and the new-ish 2x Spicy flavour. I'll be reviewing the 2x Spicy flavour this time!

Now I can enjoy the cheese flavour without the lactose intolerance kicking in!

Having not tried the 2x Spicy flavour before, I bought the (smaller) cup version so that I don't have to suffer so much with the extra spiciness. 8D;;

Emphasis on the 2x Spicy.

Even the chicken is spewing black fire... Itachi, is that you?!

The sauce packet and the toppings.

All ready to mix.

Since I anticipated that the spiciness will be overwhelming, I divided the eating into two parts. I would first try it as it is without any extra toppings just to get a "pure" taste of it, and if I find the spiciness overbearing I would mix the rest of the noodles with some seaweed, egg and furikake which were on standby.

The seaweed and furikake on standby.

Anyway, time to dig in!

Starting to regret this a little...

The chilli sauce is darker than usual, and the smell is stronger too. But one I actually tasted it... it's not as bad as I had imagined! The noodles are definitely spicier than the normal flavour, and the spiciness stays in your mouth more and longer than usual. I also noticed I had to take longer breaks between each bite. It's just barely bearable, not to the point where I had to drink some water to quell the spiciness.

After taking a couple more bites, I transferred the noodles into the standby seaweed bowl. I also added a soft-boiled egg because eggs are delicious with noodles.

Looks like mee mamak, lol

The noodles are much more bearable after mixing it with the seaweed, furikake and soft-boiled egg. (Like eating it at normal spiciness.) It's quite tasty, actually. I think the added sugar in the chilli sauce helps with the taste. I may try a bigger portion next time.

Look at that delicious eggy goodness....

Overall, it was not as spicy as I had imagined. More like 1.6x spicy rather than 2x spicy. Or maybe it's because I didn't go through the whole thing plain. Anyway, I'm game to try a bigger portion next time. I'd rate this 8/10!
