It's been a while since I've seen a new flavour from the Rich Cup Noodle series, and I had the fortune of buying a few cups in my recent trip to Japan. This one's the Matsutake fragrant rich mushroom cream flavour! (An autumn flavour if I'm not mistaken)

The flavour description at the bottom is pretty darn long, lol |
|
Matsutake mushrooms! |
|
It's got supreme-grade luxurious soup! (Whatever that means!) |
|
The topping is a luxurious fragrant oil! (Whatever that means?!?!) |
|
I see mushrooms!! (and broccoli) |
|
Looks good~ |
Mmmm, it smells like cream of mushroom soup. The oil topping kinda smells like truffle oil, but I could be wrong. From what I can translate from the package, the matsutake is only present in essence/fragance only, which makes sense, otherwise the price of the cup noodle would skyrocket if actual matsutake slices were in there. The mushroom slices may actually be eryngii mushrooms, but they should taste good. (I think?)

Time to dig in!! |
Yums~ The noodles are delish, but the chunks of mushroom are hard... D: It's still tasty though! The broccoli is also nice and crunchy (which surprised me)! Despite smelling like mushroom soup, the broth tastes like the usual cup noodle broth flavour with a bit of mushroom in it. (A little disappointing...) There are apparently 3 types of cheese in the soup base but I can't seem to detect the cheese flavour... Or maybe I've been eating too much cheese-based cup noodles that I can't tell the difference, lol.
Despite the little flaws here and there, this is a really tasty cup noodle. I'd give it a 8.5/10!
Unfortunately, by the time I'm writing this review, it might already be out of production. This is what I don't like about these limited-time flavours... D: I hope they'll bring back this flavour (and past flavours) for this year!
