I managed to get my hands on this and some cup noodles from Japan. It's coming to spring in Japan so you'll see sakura-flavoured snacks and stuff around the shops. Normally I'd buy the sakura baumkuchen, but this time I decided to try the sakura mochi-filled mini dorayaki, or as they labeled it here, the sakura rice jelly pancake!

Aww, cute. Looks like a mouth. |

At first bite, I could taste the overwhelming sweetness of the red bean paste. It was a little... disappointing. It wasn't anything special. Just a normal red-bean-filled dorayaki. However, when I got to the centre of the dorayaki, a nice surprise greeted me.

GASP! |
There actually was a soft mochi-like jelly filling in the dorayaki! It made the dorayaki much, much better! I still have trouble discerning the taste of sakura in this dorayaki, but it was nice and pleasant nonetheless.
These mini dorayaki are a nice, simple snack, but it's not something I would necessarily buy again since I'm not a huge fan of red bean paste. (I'm more a fan of the Muji baums.) Still, I'd love to eat a dorayaki every once in a while. (Just not with red bean paste.)
