It has a new ingredient called "Hobo Uni," which apparently means "almost uni." It also contains 6.9% real uni! |
And here's the luxurious paste to put on the noodles later~! |
These little almost-uni slices look cute, lol. |
Wow, it's been more than a year since I last saw a new flavour in the Rich Cup Noodle series... I've had uni before so I'm curious to see how these noodles taste.
All cooked! |
Wow I could smell the uni when I opened the lid of the cooked noodles. It's a really fishy smell (and I'm not a fan of it). Still, I'm surprised that it actually smells like uni! Heh, and these little uni slices look like mandarin orange slices. Cute. XD
Time to add the paste~! |
So how do the almost-uni slices taste?
...They actually do taste like uni, colour me surprised! And the noodles are creamy and tasty! The broth is also surprisingly light, considering it's supposed to be a creamy soup. I like it. 8D
I do wonder why they used broccoli as the accompanying veg though, but then again, I can't think of any other vegetable that might go with the uni. Not that I hate it, it's just that I don't equate broccoli to luxury cuisine and it kinda breaks the immersion... but what do I know. =_=
Well, despite my praises, I'm not actually a huge fan of uni. The fishy taste is a bit overbearing. I sorta hoped that they reduced the fishiness when they made the imitation uni, but they really did make it taste like uni, fishiness and all. If you're a fan of uni, however, I'd recommend it. If you've never tried uni and you're curious about the taste, then I recommend it as well!
I rate this noodle a 7.5/10. I actually like the taste of the broth and the smoothness of the noodles with it. Fans of uni may rate this cup noodle higher, probably.
UPDATE!!!
I tried this cup noodle again and I actually found the uni less fishy than the ones I first tried! It actually does taste nice and creamy! I wonder if something was wrong with the uni in the first cup? Anyway, with the overwhelming fishiness gone, I give this noodle a rating of 8/10!
UPDATE 2!!
Ok, I think there was something definitely wrong with the first cup I tried, because I tried this noodle a third time and once again, I did not taste the fishiness. Welp, at least I can safely recommend these noodles to people now.
