This is part 2 of the Japanese baum compilation, btw.
I actually bought this Marukin baum on a recent trip to Japan, at a random snack shop. I was really happy when I found it because the place where I used to buy the Marukin baums back home do not sell them anymore (which makes me sad).
So, when you bite and chew into this baum, you can feel a rush of satisfaction as you taste it. It's so wholesome! I guess the type of egg used to make the baum really makes a difference! It's not too sweet and it tastes so gooood. I wish I could say more about why I like this baum, but really, all I can say is that it's just so good and satisfying to eat.
Forget about the other Marukin baums, this is the one you should try if you ever get your hands on it! Also, best you eat it as soon as you open the packet, before they dry out! (It should be fine if you keep the individually wrapped baums in an air-tight container.)
Bonus baum (Sakura Baumkuchen)
Here's a bonus baum for you peeps, because I've had one more baumkuchen from Muji since the time I published the baum compilation. It's another sakura baum! (Because spring is coming!)
It's got a different packaging! |
Pretty and pink! |
For a while, I've been trying to figure out/identify the taste of sakura. I think I've narrowed it down to a kind of a mild, sweet and tangy taste. It's not a taste you can immediately recognise when you try it, like with rose-flavoured stuff for example.
Anyway, the sakura baum is nice, sweet, and pleasant. Goes well with tea. I would try it again, given the chance!
