I still do not have the real thing. |
Although it's another one of my favourites, I did not see its disappearance coming at all. It's been around for years and I thought it'll stick around for many more. Turns out it's not everybody's favourite, I suppose...
By the time I realised, it was too late.
The hot cup has gone through a recent redesign (sans sayur). |
Peppery Sayur translates to peppery vegetables, so it's like a peppery savoury soup. I've mentioned before that I did not like the taste of the regular chicken flavour, so this vegetable soup was just right for me. A savoury soup without the chicken taste that does not taste quite right.
And if I do want a chicken flavour to the soup, all I had to do was mix some Brand's Essence of Chicken to the sayur broth. It adds a hint of bitterness (in addition to the chicken flavour) and I quite like it. Kinda like a peppery herbal chicken soup. Good to warm yourself up on a cold morning.
The Brand's Essence of Chicken has made a comeback! |
Well, obviously the noodles in the pictures is not the real Peppery Sayur flavour. I didn't have the chance to take photos of the real thing before it disappeared, so I'm using the Maggi Hot Cup Sup Ayam flavour as a stand-in for the Peppery Sayur flavour.
It's been decade(s) since I voluntarily bought this flavour. |
The pretend copy of the sayur soup tasted alright. It's just the chicken flavour and while it's not bad, I still miss the peppery sayur flavour. (The sayur flavour had corn in its toppings while the chicken flavour does not. I am disappoint.)
Peppery Sayur, pls come back... ;_; |
I guess they say you never know what you take for granted until it's gone... Let's hope the year 2020 brings good noodles to the table. Happy New Year y'all.
Update March 2020:
Lately I also discovered more lost flavours, like the Maggi Letup Goreng Kari Berasap, Maggi Letup Kari Chili Api, and the Mamee Daebak cup noodles I reviewed before.
I'm sad that the Maggi Letup noodles are gone since they're another one of my favourites. (And I haven't had the chance to properly review them since I thought they'd stay.) However, I'm somewhat indifferent about the loss of the Mamee Daebak noodles. They never really stood out enough, to be honest. This really is the year of the great noodle culling.
